What is Rodeo Editorial?

Howdy! If you want to skip all of this and move down to the FAQs, you can definitely can. But who knows, maybe some of your questions about what we do and who we are will be answered here.

I started Rodeo for two reasons. The first is.. I absolutely love editing. I always wanted to make music but never got into making music. Instead, I somehow found myself editing films. And in some way, after listening to producers and musicians speak about their process, editing film started to sound very similar.

The second, and most important for me was to make great work with great people.

I’ve been very fortunate to have had some incredible opportunities in this industry. I was able to direct Shohei Ohtani twice, cut work for household companies like Scotts Miracle-Gro and Nationwide, and wear many different hats in the filmmaking process.

But nothing ever compared to the feeling of working with a team of people who absolutely rule. Even when things got stressful and hectic (as they always do), we worked together to figure out solutions and have fun navigating this wild process of making films.

That feeling is what I want to replicate over and over again with Rodeo. To get amazing filmmakers and creatives together to create awesome work and have a blast doing it.

  • We are a remote first edit house (for now) and making the process feel like it’s not remote is important for us.

    We utilize clean video streams for live editing sessions and the traditional review link workflow so you can review cuts at your own pace.

    As far as the process from beginning to end, we like to follow this as best as we can:

    intro > prepost > project creation and ingest > offline edit > online edit (if we’re doing it) > delivery (final masters or project file + media)

  • We love working on anything that has something to say and is entertaining. Specifically, we tend to gravitate towards documentary and commercial filmmaking.

    Eventually we’ll get to cut a horror film (if you’re project is a horror film, we definitely want to hear about it).

  • No, Rodeo is an edit house focused on editorial. While we don’t do production, we do love being brought into the process as early as possible.

    This way we can assist wherever we can in the early stages of pre production so we can find the best solutions for post.

  • Short answer, yes.

    Long answer.. this is entirely project dependent. While we can do motion graphics, VFX, color and mix audio.. we are connected to some pros who specialize in those areas and absolutely crush it.
